Lets Go fishing

There is nothing worse than going fishing and not catching any fish. You plan out your entire fishing trip, get everything ready, drive down to the lake only to sit there and wait the entire day not catching anything at all.

Now of course it can be good to get outdoors and away from everything just to relax, but still the entire reason you went fishing was to catch some fish.
So to help prevent this from happening I have provided some very helpful fishing tips that will greatly increase your odds of catching a fish every single time you go fishing.
The first problem that a lot of fishermen have is that they are afraid of change. They use the exact same tactics and techniques every single time they go fishing. They think that just because they caught a hundred fish this way that it is going to work every single time they go fishing. The fact is that the same technique doesnt work every time and you have to change it up every now and then.

If you have been sitting there for the past hour using worms trying to catch catfish and they just arent biting then try switching it up and try something new like chicken liver. If your fishing for bass using crankbait and your not catching anything then try switching to a spinnerbait. This is also where it comes in handy to be prepared when you go fishing. Bring lots of extra bait and tackle so that way when you get to the lake you wont run out of supplies and have plenty to try out new things.

But not only does this mean changing your tackle and techniques but also changing your location. I wouldnt recomend staying in the same spot for more than 45 minutes if your bait fishing. Now if your using a lure then I wouldn't recomend staying in the same spot for more that 10 minutes. Dont be afraid to walk around the lake casting in different areas. If there is no fish where your fishing then your not going to catch anything.

I remember about 6 months ago me and my buddy went fishing. We were on a boat fishing around the shoreline for almost two hours not catching anything. We only had about an hour and a half left to fish because he had to go to work and we decided to move the boat out to deeper water. We weren't that far from are original spot but as soon as we got there within 5 minutes we had already caught are first striper. By the time the hour had gone by that we had been there, we brought around 15 stripers home that day. This shows that just a small change in location can completley change your luck.

Going Fishing at the Right Time

Timing is everything

Another problem is that you might be going fishing at the wrong time. If there is a hundred fish in front of you and your trying everything in your will power to catch them and they are not hungry, there not going to bite. So make sure that when you go fishing you plan it out so that your on the lake fishing when they are going to be hungry. It all depends on the season and the time.

Summer
If its in the summer then the best time to go fishing is anywhere from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. This will be the most active time of the fish after the temperture has dropped down and they have cooled off. You can also go around 4:30am to 9:00 am. At this time the sun hasnt yet rose and the temperature is still cool so the fish are active. They are not near as active as in the evening but they are still searching for breakfast. Now if you go fishing in between these times then you still might catch some fish but your chances are greatly reduced due to the heat. Usually at those times the fish are just trying to keep cool and staying in deeper waters not wanting to eat.

Fall
Now if your going fishing in the fall then the best time to go fishing is around 12:00pm to about 6:00pm. This is the time of year when the tempature has dropped and the fish are most active at the hottest part of the day. If you go from about 5:00am to 9:00am then usually your not going to catch very many fish. Then from 9:00am to 12:00pm the bite gets a little better due to the temperature rising but it is still not as good as the afternoon to evening.

Spring
Now in the spring time it is usally best to wait until at least a week after the lake and snow has thawed out and the temperature is around 40 degrees. This is usually the most active time of the year when you catch the most fish. The fish are spawning and they are very hungry. Just like the fall, the times of spring are similar. In the early morning it is usually to cold for the fish to be active and biting. The fish start to warm up and biting around 9:00am but they dont become fully active until around 1:00pm.

Winter
If you live in an area that allows you to go fishing in the winter time and its not to cold, then the best time to go fishing is the hottest part of the day.

You should also remember that these times are just a rough estimate of the best time to go fishing. It all depends on where you live and the tempature of the day. If you live in a really hot area where in the spring time its 100 degrees then you should go fishing a lot earlier then 1:00. Just use your own discretion. They perfect temperature outside usually means the best time to go fishing. If its to hot then the fish are not going to want to move and if its to cold then the fish are not going to want to move either. So keep this in mind everytime you plan to go fishing. Its also good to always check what the temperature is going to be like before you go. Also remember that if it is windy, then you can forget about bringing home any fish.

Some common mistakes made while fishing

Here is some common mistakes that I see a lot of fishermen making every single time I go fishing. Though they dont realize it but things like this is is costing them a lot of fish and is very easy to fix.

The color of your Clothes:Now this may sound very silly but the color of the clothes you wear does effect how many fish you catch. Fish have much better eye sight than most people seem to think. If you can see the fish from the shore or boat then I guarantee you that they can see you. So if your standing by the water moving around and your wearing bright clothes, then you stick out like a sore thumb to the fish. They see something big and bright moving around and it spooks them and sends them away. So make sure that when you go fishing to wear dark and light colored clothes so that way your more cammaflauge and the fish dont see you as easily

Making loud Noise:I think that some people believe that the fish cant hear you because they are in the water. Well if you believe this then the next time your swimming in a pool go under the water and have someone yell and run around splashing making all kinds of noise. The truth is that loud noise and objects disrupting the water and splashing scares the fish away. So the next time your at the lake try to be a little quieter. Now I'm not saying that you have to wisper to each other but keep it at a moderate level. Now of course any person that has gone fishing has probably came across that one group that sound like they are having a concert going on where they are fishing. I would recommend that you just stay as far away from them as you can.

Knowledge is the Key

The more knowledge and experience you have, the better your chances

Fishing and Cigarettes

What cigarettes does to your chances of catching fish

Though you may not realize it but smoking cigarettes actually greatly decreases your chances of catching any fish. You see fish can smell very good and smell travels through the water through water soluble particles. So if you have to smoke a cigarette while your fishing make sure and take some precations.

While your smoking your cigarette stay as far away from your fishing gear as you can. If your messing with or around your gear then that smell gets on your fishing line and your hooks and lures and that smell sends the fish as far away as possible.

Make sure that after your done smoking you wash your hands before handling anything. Its best to carry a little tiny bottle of hand sanitizer inside your tackle box so that way when your done smoking you can get that smell completley off of your hands.

Another thing is that it is extremely important that you use fish scents and put them on your lures and bait so that way there is no sign of the smell any where near your bait.

And remember that it is all of our jobs to keep the lakes and rivers clean so dont toss your cigarette on the ground or in the lake and polute it. Bring a little bag or something so that you can toss them in there after your done.
